Fergal Keane

Fergal Keane

At a stunning sell-out session at the 2010 Borders Book Festival, Fergal Keane talked  about his Road of Bones, the amazing story of the 1944 siege of Kohima in eastern India where 1,500 British and Indian soldiers held off  15,000 Japanese. Beautifully, rivetingly written, the account of the battle details many acts of courage and defiance. When Fergal asked for questions at the end of the session, an old man in the front row raised his hand, "I was there" was all he said, and the audience rose to applaud him. Unmissable.
