Queen Margaret University - a relevant university

Since moving to our purpose build modern campus facility in Musselburgh, Queen Margaret University has worked to place itself at the heart of the East Lothian community and we are delighted to support the Lennoxlove Book Festival.

As well as preparing our graduates for useful careers, our teaching and research is designed to enhance the social and economic well-being of all the communities we serve - in East Lothian, Scotland, the UK and the rest of the world.

With flagships in Sustainable Business; Creativity and Culture; and Health and Rehabilitation, our focus is on education and research which is relevant to the needs of society and which improves quality of life.

Within the area of Sustainable Business, locally, our experts assist companies with their business development. We are leading the University sector in supporting the development social enterprise and we have created productive partnerships with East Lothian Council and the East and Mid Lothian Chamber of Commerce.

As experts in Creativity and Culture, our community theatre students have run youth drama projects for local communities. Our International Centre for the Study of Planned Events has welcomed members of the local community to lectures from International business leaders from organisations including Disney Cruise Lines, The Macy's Day Thanks Giving Parade and the Olympic Games. In addition, local residents have also enjoyed public interviews with a host of distinguished actors and producers including Brian Cox, Bill Paterson and David Hayman.

In the area of Health and Rehabilitation, we offer the widest range of allied health courses of all Scottish universities. Our research is focused on policy and practice and therefore immediately relevant to improving quality of life. Our research helps children with cleft palate and people suffering with chronic pain, as well as improving nursing care for those living from osteoporosis.

We aim to be a true community asset. Our campus grounds are available for all to enjoy, our modern meeting rooms and lecture theatre are available for hire, and local people can use our sports facilities and food court.
