Welcome to Lennoxlove

Welcome to Lennoxlove

Get ready for a Lennox-lovely weekend!

Best yet is a very dangerous phrase - a rod made for backs.  What do we say next year? But never mind!  It's true. Our 4th Lennoxlove Book Festival, is undoubtedly the best yet.  As the pipes and drums of Loretto School skirl into the night air, we begin with another fanfare - Michael Morpurgo and J.K. Rowling.

There follows a procession of wonderful writers, entertainers and thinkers: Alexander McCall Smith, Prue Leith, John Sessions, Penny Junor, Neil Oliver, Alistair Darling, Roger McGough and Richard Wilson.  And a special feature on five superb accounts of different aspects of World War Two.  Lennoxlove House makes all of the following even more special and many thanks are due to Hamilton and Kinneil Estates for all their kindnesses.  McInroy & Wood are simply inimitable, a renowned local company with a hudge reputation and thier headline sponsorship is vital. Creative Scotland, East Lothian council and Event Scotland have simply made the festival possible with their generous support.  East Lothian's own university, Queen Margaret, adds a unique flavour.  And welcome to Springfords, a new sponsor and East Lothian's best accountancy firm.  And welcome to you - the essential ingredient - our wonderful audience.

Alistair Moffat - Festival Director

CHILDREN 1ST

This year our chosen charity is CHILDREN 1ST.  The charity works to build a brighter future for Scotland's vulnerable children and families.  Its work is founded on 125 years of experience as the RSSPCC (Royal Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).  Today it runs 4 national and 39 local services across Scotland.  Last year, the charity provided Befriending, Young Family Outreach and Family Group Conferencing services for vulnerable children and families in East Lothian. They could not do this without your support. You can find our more about the charity, and donate via collecting cans and volunteers throught the weekend.  To keep up to date with CHILDREN 1ST, you can visit their website CHILDREN 1ST or find them on FACEBOOK.
